Details: 1982 Buick Regal Limited; 1981 Olds Custom Cruiser -- Two project cars.I have owned these automobiles for many years. I had intended to restore both, but time has gotten the upper hand, and I need to sell them. I am the original owner of the Olds, and the second owner of the Regal. Both started life as diesels, and were converted. The VIN numbers exempted them from emissions inspections. The A/C on both is R-12. The Regal has a rebuilt Olds Rocket 350 with the heavy duty castings, beefed-up crank and free-flowing heads, as well as an Olds TH 350 tranny. I purchased it in 1992 from the fellow who did the conversion. The engine swallowed a valve five years ago, and needs a top overhaul; the trans has about 35K mi and works fine. My son damaged the front end which needs replacement (see below). The rear bumper and partial padded vinyl top also needs replacement, as do the four bumper fillers. The rest of the body is in good condition, with no dents or major body rust. The motorized retractable sunroof (not a T-top) works perfectly, and does not leak. All of the glass is in good condition. The interior is red velour. The Temp-matic heating and cooling control worked perfectly while the car was in service. It has 70´s vintage Olds sport wheels similar to old-school American Racing wheels.I have a significant number -- over $700 -- of spare replacement parts for the Regal, which will be included with the vehicle. These include a complete front end, including headlights, HL doors, bumper and sub-bumper which I purchased shortly after the damage, an additional second pristine finish chrome front bumper, an instrument cluster with speedo and gauges, aftermarket front and rear bumper fillers, at least one and possibly both tail light clusters, headlight doors, and various other spare parts, including the factory service manual and illustrated factory parts manual. I have not made a recent inventory, but will include everything that I have, including original equipment list and maintenance records. I performed most of the maintenance myself, including a suspension rebuild shortly before the damage. Although it looks forlorn now, it is fundamentally sound and would make a great restoration project. I ordered the 81 Custom Cruiser from the factory with virtually all of the options. Other than the abysmal performance of the diesel and its equally crappy trans, it has been a great and dependable driver despite the gas costs. It has instrument gauges rather than trouble lights, heavy-duty alternator, and almost every other option. The original equipment list is included. After the second diesel died in 1987, I had it re-engined with a completely rebuilt big-block Olds Rocket 455 V-8 with a Rochester 4-barrel carb and the venerable Olds 350 trans. The performance of this power train has been magnificent. Due to my oversight, I replaced the trans with another unit, which was not as dependable. (I failed to detect a trans coolant line leak, and assumed the original unit was bad. I still have the original trans, and the next builder can decide how to proceed.) The motor is in great shape with less than 35K miles. It was the family haul-wagon and battleship trainer for my sons as they learned to drive. It has a couple of dents, but the body is otherwise in surprisingly good shape. The windshield is broken and will need to be replaced. This model was relatively unchanged for a number of years, and replacement parts are readily available. In addition to dealer rust-proofing, I had it Z-barted after I took delivery, and there is no significant rust. It comes with the factory service/unit repair manual and factory electrical diagram/trouble-shooting manuals, which were invaluable in maintaining the vehicle. I have all maintenance records since day one, and a comprehensive spreadsheet of everything done to the vehicle since delivery from the dealer. I have a few spare parts which will be included.Although I have included a couple of photos (the discoloration on the Regal is dirt, not rust) , the cars need to be seen in person to get a complete picture. These would make great project cars. Under the right hands, the Regal would be a stunning ride, and the station wagon would be a great driver when brought back to life.I am currently accepting offers on both of these vehicles to be sold as a package with all spare parts, maintenance records, manuals and associated paperwork. For those who may be interested, I have a virtually-new, used-once 2-ton foldable shop crane.Contrary to my earlier understanding, I have confirmed that the Olds 455 has J heads on a 1st generation 396021F Block with a 1971 date stamp on the pad beneath #1 cylinder.I have been on out of town travel and regret I have been unable to respond to all of the queries that have been made.
